As the Limoges area porcelain makers did so many times, this 3” tall inkwell was made by T & V of Limoges, France for Pitkin & Brooks a store that was established in 1891 in Chicago. This piece could very well have been any early part of their inventory. The six-sided porcelain inkwell is decorated in small pink flowers with greenery, which is also something so many of the Limoges artisans did. The base of the well measures approximately 3 ½” wide. There is no insert in this inkwell, but I don’t think it was designed to have one, since the well is rather shallow, and there is ink residue all around the mouth of the well. There are a couple of tiny fleabites on the mouth and there is a small chip on one of the sides (pictured).
