The Muppets, created by Jim Henson and his wife Jane in 1955, began with Kermit the Frog debuting on the television show Sam And Friends which aired from 1955 until 1961. Sesame Street debuted in 1969, produced by Children’s Television Workshop. The Muppets continued their presence on television and in 1976 The Muppet Show introduced the characters Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and Animal. Under Jim Henson’s guidance the Muppets reached international recognition and celebrity status winning twenty-one Emmy Award nominations. Miss Piggy is celebrated in the 4 ½” Pez dispenser still in the original package with its three unopened candy packages. There is a slight bend to the upper left edge of the cardboard backing and the clear cover has been taped to the backing in a few places where in has come unglued.
