This red and white checked shirt makes me think Curley from the musical “Oklahoma” is going to stroll out and begin singing “Surrey with the Fringe on Top.” Western cut shirts, very popular in Texas, have a distinct style with the predominate V yoke in the back and the Vs that come down in the front above each pocket. The button flaps on each pocket are also V-shaped. The tag indicates the shirt style is Permanent Press Flying Ranchwear made by Ruddock Mfg. Co in El Paso, TX – you can’t get anymore western in Texas than El Paso, otherwise you’ll be in New Mexico! The buttons are plastic mother of pearl look. The tag states that the size 16 shirt is made of 65% polyester and 35% cotton fabric; the fabric is lightweight – wonderful for hot Texas summers. The shirt has a long tail; all buttons are accounted for and there are no stains or tears. There is slight wear on one pocket buttonhole – that must be the pocket that was used all the time! The wear doesn’t show when the pocket is buttoned closed.
