The A. W. Faber Company was founded in 1761 by Kasper Faber in Stein, Germany. The company has remained in the family for eight generations. When a great-great granddaughter married a cadet of the Counts of Castell, the A. W. Castell enterprise took the name of Faber-Castell and created a new logo combining the Faber motto, Since 1761, with the jousting knights of the Castell’s Coat of Arms.
The colors of the jousting knights logo on this box are still vibrant. The 7 1/8" long metal pencil box has information about the pencils printed on the inside lid in three languages, French, German and English. A paper insert in English covers the inside bottom of the box. One end of the box contains the letter H, to designate the kind of pencil in the box. The box is in good vintage as found condition. There is some minor paint loss on the edges of the lid and wear on the bottom.
This would be a nice addition to tin or pencil box collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
