Rochester Shoe Tree Co. was founded in 1922 by Edmund Baas in Rochester, NY. They started out making shoe lasts, but in 1933 they began making shoe trees out of aromatic woods, like cedar. In 1962, they bought out a competitor which was located in New Hampshire, and, in 1980, they relocated their operations to Ashland, NH. These shoe trees, marked as size medium, are 11 ¼” long. From the stains and wear on them, the gentleman who owned them must have used them a lot. When new, shoe trees have a nice finish on them, but most of the finish is off of this pair. They are marked on the bottom: Rochester Shoe Tree Co., Inc., Rochester 4, New York, Patented. With the postal zone of “4” in its address instead of a Zip Code, this dates the pair to the late 1940s up to 1959. I’ve never used shoe trees, so I don’t know if they function like they’re supposed to, but they make an interesting display, or, as I’ve seen some people do, they can be used as bookends!

These are priced as a pair.
