Lovely Unmarked Antique Moriage Hair Receiver

Even though this hair receiver isn’t marked anywhere, the moriage decoration on it surely shows that it is an early Nippon piece. It is lovely with its hand painted floral design interspersed with not only the raised “bumps” that indicate moriage but also raised decoration on the leaves, white spirals emanating from the flowers and then raised green trim around the edge of the lid. At first glance, I thought that the raised green trim was intermittently placed around the rim of the lid, but on closer examination, part of the trim is missing. In spite of the loss of some of the decoration, it’s still a wonderful piece. There is also a tiny, almost undetectable chip on one of the “bumps” around the hole that receives the hair, and there is a rough green spot on the underneath of the lid. There are no cracks or repairs.

This would be a beautiful addition to your hair receiver or antique Nippon collection, or it would be wonderful on your vanity holding cotton balls or trinkets. Please contact us if you have any questions.
