Beautiful Antique Handpainted Kutani Porcelain Butterfly Moth Plate

The hand decoration on this 7” plate is exquisite. At first glance, you don’t really see the butterflie and moths because they are fit amongst vines, flowers and gold dots and embellishments, all placed around a center star. The first time I looked at the plate I thought it was comprised of one butteryfly and two moths, but the more I looked, another butterfly and two more moths caught my eye. The plate, which is probably from the Meiji period, is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It’s a fascinating piece!
