Even if you don’t smoke cigars or collect tobacco-related items, this wonderful wooden cigar box would make a great decorative piece or a nice box to store things in. Made by Reed & Barton (who, of course, makes cases for their sterling silverware), the box measures 17” wide, 9” deep and 5 ¾” tall. It has antiqued brass handles on each end and a shiny brass plate on the front bearing the name Cuesta-Rey Cigars. There is an emblem on the outside top of the lid that depicts a shield and again bears the cigar company’s name. The inside top of the lid has a colorful lithograph and to the right a blue ribbon touting the quality of the cigars. There are three smaller wooden boxes inside, each designated to hold a certain type of cigar. There is powder residue inside these small boxes, which has to do with the preservation of the cigars. The bottom of the box has a piece of low-pile velveteen fabric to keep it from scratching anything it sits on. The box is very substantial, weighing 6 lbs. The case is in excellent condition with only small, minor scratches and dings that could be touched up with stain. The three smaller boxes are also in excellent condition. All the graphics are crisp and very readable.
