From an estate of world travelers, this is the most interesting pair of earrings. Made from a substantial goldtone metal, they are fashioned into Roman or Viking sailing ships. There is a lot of detail impressed into the metal with black and silver enameling or paint to highlight the details. Around the edges of the sails is minuscule silver color beading, and in the middle of each sail there is a goldtone cross with a black background all encircled with the silver beading. The front of each ship has a dragon or griffon head with embossed features. Tremendous detail on these 1 ½” square drops. They are in pristine condition with the goldtone still very shiny. These are of such quality, I wouldn’t be surprised if the metal hasn’t actually been washed with a gold layer, but I don’t have anything that indicates that, it just has that look.
