From the estate of a retired Air Force officer and his wife who lived all over the world, we have this beautiful mink stole that was purchased probably in the late 1950s or 1960s from Landes Furs in San Rafael. There is no tag on the fur, so it may have been custom made for the lady. It has been stored for years and is absolutely beautiful. The lady was a size medium but had somewhat broad shoulders. It’s hard to accurately measure the shoulder of a stole since there’s not a distinct shoulder seam, but I would say it’s roughly 17-18” across the shoulder – of course, with a stole you kind of throw it around your shoulders, so there’s no perfect fit. There are not sleeves in the stole, but its folds tend to make it look like there are. The inside, hand-stitched satin lining is immaculate with no wear or stains. The fur is soft and pliable. There are a couple of “impressed” spots in the fur where something in the closet next to the stole pressed it. If feel the fur will lie down straight if hung up by itself. The fur still has its original garment bag.
These would make a fabulous addition to your vintage clothes collection or to wear for special nights out. Please contact us if you have any questions. We will always consider any reasonable offer for our pieces.
