Dated June 1971, this tile from Toledo, Spain has a humorous motto along with the graphics of a man stealing his neighbor’s chickens. According to the handwritten translation on the back of the 5 7/8” square tile, it says: My neighbors are very nice, but three hens are missing.” The tile looks tin-glazed and appears to be handmade, with several surface pits in it; the artist signed it in the lower right corner. The decoration has a look similar to Quimper pieces. It’s delightful and in excellent condition with not chips or cracks. It is ¼” thick.
