There is nothing more beautiful than the many gorgeous blanks and factory decoration of Haviland, and this finely crafted tureen in no exception with its soft green and orchid floral pattern and gold highlights. The tureen measures about 12 ¼” from handle to handle, with the bowl measuring 9 ½” x 7”. Isn’t it fun to take the lid off and, even though food would have covered it up, the decorators carried the floral pattern onto the inside of the bowl? The mark on the bottom not only bears the Theodore Haviland name and Limoges, France, but displays the Legion of Honor symbol above the name, which places the piece between 1895-1903. It also shows that this was a set made especially for Missouri Glass Co., something that the Haviland companies did often, specially make pieces for businesses. The tureen is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The glaze on the piece is still very shiny, as evidenced by the many reflections in the photos. My husband and I have been collecting Haviland for 30 years, and this piece is from our private collection.
