From my personal collection, the 4 1/8” tall Lefton bisque (no glaze) pitcher or toby jug depicts Thomas Jefferson. The handle takes on the shape of a walking stick, which makes the width measure 4 ¼”. This hand-painted piece is in excellent condition with only a couple of tiny places where there is paint loss. The bottom is marked: Lefton China, Hand painted, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off., KW 2195. There is the remnant of a paper tag – just the backing. This mark was predominately used from the mid 1950s-1970s. I don’t know if Lefton made a series of the pitchers or mugs to commemorate America’s bicentennial celebration, which would place this in the 1970s. There are no chips, cracks or crazing
This would be a wonderful addition to your Lefton or historical figures collection or as an interesting decorative piece. Please contact us if you have any questions.
