From 1885 to the beginning of World War I Royal Bayreuth made these whimsical figural serving pieces, and this duck has to be one of the cutest. He stands 6 ½” tall and has a wonderful mallard green head and yellow beak. This fine fellow has no cracks, crazing, or chips and has nice coloring all over. Royal Bayreuth factories suffered several fires in the early 1900s and lost most of their figural molds, thus making these pieces quite rare. It is simply marked “Registered” on the bottom. This piece came from an old Texas estate, and many years ago an elderly relative placed a sticker on the bottom bearing the date of 1907. This cutie is too charming to pass up.
