This vintage ring is from an estate in Texas. Very unusual mounting design with three levels of a dense bark design and bark finish on the shank. The opal measures 14 x 11 mm and is a cabochon cut. The ring weighs 10.3 grams and is size 6 ½. The ring is marked 14K, with the maker's mark of a "W", a diagonal "Arrow" and an "S." The previous owner had the ring appraised in November of 1982, at which time the ring was valued at $450, when the price of gold was about $375/oz., roughly ¼ of today's gold prices.
This unusual ring mounting and large opal would make a wonderful addition to your jewelry collection.
