I can’t tell exactly what this 13 ¼” x 2 ¼” x 5 7/16” box is made from – either heavy, thick cardboard or a fiberboard of some kind. Whatever it’s made out of, it is substantial, because the box weighs nearly a pound. It is covered in a green pattered fabric with matching ties to secure the lid in front. Muslin fabric serves as the “hinge” on the inside. On the inside, the lid is covered in a paper that coordinates with the fabric covering the box, and the box is covered in thin, white paper, which has some tears in it. There is also white paper on the bottom. It’s hard to date this box, but I think it could be from the ‘30s to the late ‘40s or early ‘50s. Except for the torn paper inside, it is in very good, used vintage condition.
