Painted on a 5” x 7” Masonite board, this oil still life depicts the simplicity of canning fruits in an old-fashioned Mason jar. Even though the painting is small, the frame gives dimension to it with its “double framed” look. Overall, the framed piece with the linen mat measures 13 ¼” x 11 ¼” with a depth of 1 ¼”. It is signed Bobbette or Babbette and dated ’75. The still life is in excellent condition with no loss of paint, cracks or nicks. The frame, which, by design, has a distressed look, is in very good condition with only a couple of obscure rubs. The linen mat has some dark marks on it, but I don’t know if it was designed that way or if it needs cleaning.
