Jared Davis was born in New York City and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. He has spent years working with blown glass, beginning at K Dahl Glass Studios. In 1995, Davis was introduced to Swedish glass masters, Jan-Erik Ritzman and Sven Åke Carlsson, who invited Davis to study with them in Transjö, Sweden, for two years. The apprenticeship ended in July 1998. Davis then returned to Crawford, Colorado with his wife and two small sons to become an active glass blower and designer for K Dahl Glass Studios. In 2001 Jared and his wife Nicole started their own business, Davis Glass, and in 2005 started a hot studio where other artists can create their own pieces.
Davis is very influenced by the desert landscape, and this 9 ½” tall vase is one of his that reflects that influence. He has made a series of pieces that reflect the desert. This vase is also in the style that he calls a flat vase. The vase is 8 ¼” wide, but only a couple of inches deep; the mouth measures 5 ¼” long and 2 ¼” deep. This beautiful vase is made with a brilliant blue glass and infused with ecru, green, brown, yellow, and teal. It is signed and dated clearly on the bottom. It is cased in clear glass. The vase is very substantial, weighing nearly 5 lbs. It is in excellent condition with very few marks from having been sitting on a shelf.
This incredible vase is one of many in an art glass collection that we recently acquired. What a great find to add to your art glass collection or just as an accent piece on your shelf. Please contact us if you have any questions.
