This retro 5” vase is by George Thiewes, a recognized American studio glass artist. The vase is designed with blue, rust, yellow and brown orbs and two predominant large swirls, one which is light rust and the other darker brown with black marks, almost like an animal hide. The mouth of the vase is small, but looking into it, you can see the pattern through the translucent white glass. Just above the pontil mark on the bottom is the artist’s signature and date; it is very light in the rust swirl. The bottom shows a tiny bit of wear from having sat on a shelf for 40 years. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or flea bites.
This piece is one of many in an art glass collection that we recently acquired, and on the bottom is the remnant of a sticker that was on it with an inventory number so that we can keep each piece straight!
What a great find to add to your art glass collection or just as an accent piece on your shelf. Please contact us if you have any questions.
