This is a beautiful Art Nouveau black sheer silk fan with an appliqué design of three Iris blooms, buds of future blooms, flowing leaves and stems. The applied mother of pearl burgautage, aka 'goldfish' which highlights the Iris blooms was professionally and masterfully restored/replaced by fan restorer extraordinaire Betsy Smith. Fan leaf is mounted on shell fan sticks & guards and further embellished with hundreds of silver sequins and spangles. There are two old and quite minor fabric repairs, seen more clearly on the back the fan, and lastly there is a small section of appliqué missing on the top edge right side. Condition is considered excellent, fan dates to approximately c.1910. This fan has tremendous sparkle and the scalloped top edge adds to it's beauty. My photos do not come close to doing justice to this fan. 18"W x 9" H. Please email me with any questions you may have.
