A sweet little old doll box, upon opening the box the lid features a lithograph of children playing. The exterior is plain, made of all wood as many Victorian doll boxes were, but once the box is opened it is very pretty. It measures 7" x 5 3/4" x 1 3/4".
This early box has the dovetail edges and an old skinny latch, which sticks a bit. The lithograph shows some staining mostly on the green and gold frame. The box is lined in a pretty vintage brocade with metallic trim, but this is not original to the box and was added sometime later. There shows some wear on the outside as well but it is very minor an the lid does not stay up but it can easily be propped up as you see it here; please enlarge photos for details.
I would date this item prior to the turn of the last century; maker unknown. You see in the last photo a little mignonette inside the box, this is to show the scale and she is not included in the sale.
