An usual hinged alabaster box from before the turn of the last century, this petite treasure has a little brass hand design as a knob for opening and closing the box ;) Something we don't often find on these types of boxes. Then there are two almost 'touching hands' brass embellishments on the top of the lid; very, very Victorian with the brass design of lacy cuffed sleeves.
The little trinket box measures about 4" x 1 7/8" and 7 1/2" around the thickest part of the alabaster. There is minimal wear as expected from any genuine antique but it is in good antique condition without any chips or cracks that I could find; certainly it could be polished if desired. The hinge is a little off center; it opens and closes without issue.
Likely Italian in origin and part of the "Grand Tour" mementos the wealthy tourists of the 19th century liked to collect during their travels, so mid to late 1800s. You see it displayed with some other alabaster antiques that may or may not be available in my shop at the time of this listing.
