A fabulous lil' French Bebe pin featuring a tiny hand painted enamel Raphael cherub in the center set in higher European grade silver, tested and stamped 835 on the reverse in oval (European standard is normally 800 to American 925 for sterling).
The word BEBE is separated by the enamel plaque, it measures about 1 1/4" x 1/4" (you see it modeled by one of my 21" dolls in the last photos so you get an idea of how it would work for one of your girls).
It is in good vintage condition, some original patina on the metal that can easily clean off with baking soda and a tad of water, just be careful around the plaque. I love the look of genuine antiques so I don't like to clean anything; most of the patina is on the reverse.
It is French in origin with the trombone push-in type clasp to the reverse; based on the design, I would date it to the 1920-1930s period. Would look wonderful for any doll display (I sort of hate to give it up! But I have another similar one so I thought, 'well...'). Originally these were made for real babies, sometimes used for pinning bibs but early on we do find them on Bru and other makers bebe costuming as jewelry accessories.
