A lovely little trinket from the Grand Tour days, a pocket watch holder in the form of a chair made of mother of pearl half shells and then as the French are known for doing using elaborate wire work, there are little "leaf" MOP shell details.
The small chair measures about 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" and is without any chips, breaks or repairs. The small size is nice for dolls too! But originally it was designed to be used to hold a man's pocket watch. You see some of the versatile uses for it the last few photos (other items not included in sale, they are for display purposes only so you get an idea of how it would work with your little dolls or treasures).
Circa mid-1800s, about 1850-1860s, and French in origin.
