An early Egyptian Revival choker made of small brass beads set in the center with elongated turquoise, it is signed Laure on the back hook closure. I've had this fabulous old choker for years and I there is something about the simplicity about it that I always liked, but I've never had a chance to wear it, so here it is for someone else to enjoy!
It measures a total length of 20". It is on the original old cord that was doubled when it was made and after over 100 years has come a little unraveled at the end if the beads are moved around, but it is still very solid and wearable and could be restrung if desired, however I do not think it is necessary.
I assume it is American in origin, although I do not know because I do not know the name "Laure" and circa late 1800s.
