I have had this necklace in my collection for decades! And in my younger days as a professional secretary I had the chance to wear it on a few occasions. But for years and years it has just sat along with my other jewels and things, so I decided to offer it in my shop.
Just a really gorgeous, early Haskell of all glass faux pearls in varying sizes with brass insert beads cascading to a drop pendant of a snake motif circling between flowers. It measures 18" across the top strand to the end and is signed Miriam Haskell on the hook.
In good vintage condition, there shows slight wear to the pearls when inspected with a loop but I could only one any with the naked eye when closely inspected. The hook is missing a pearl that should be inside the cusp and it's possible that there would have been a "pearl flower" wired in on that hook as there is one on the other end and that's usually how she did it.
The drop is unique with pretty Haskell flowers and small green and violet crystals. I've never seen a snake drop by her before, but it's definitely Haskell. Also, I've never seen it done this way before where it's attached on the strand like this, I do not know it if was made this way or added later, but it is just wonderful! Could use a light, careful cleaning.
American in origin, pre-1947.
