Hand Painted Portrait of Josephine Bonapart
Here is a lovely little shabby chic treasure! One of the French Palais Royal trinkets that would have been purchased by vacationers on their grand tour of France. A little painting of Josephine, which is very well painted with her crown of jewels, however the old piano key frame is damaged missing a piece in the front right corner and some along the sides.
It measures 4" x 4" in the frame, the oval measures about 3" x 2" and the painting is still safely contained under glass, someone removed the backing and it was re-taped. No longer has it's ring for hanging, but looks sweet enough on a little easel. The painting itself is fine without any damage (any lines seen are a reflection of the glass) and could be re-framed if desired.
Perfect for the French shabby chic decor, or Paris apt if re-framed.
French in origin, circa 1850-1900.
