An incredibly well preserved antique dress made of soft ivory silk with rows of ruched silk all around the collar, edges of the puffy sleeves and a double row on the very bottom with garland swags above that. There is a beautiful wide tulle lace collar with antique bebe pin, the sleeves have matching lace on the ends. A few vintage silk cream ribbons were added, one which cinches in the waist with the original matching big bow on the side it; old hooks and eyes on the reverse for closure.
This is an actual antique dress, not a newly made doll costume of antique materials which is what we normally find. The dress has very few minor issues, very few, there is a slight age spot on the bottom end and a few minor holes (and a teeny patch). Also, the lace collar has one repair. Considering the age of the dress, I would say it is in remarkable condition. The tulle lace bonnet is a nice accompaniment to the dress, it is of the same period, the late 1800s, but the pattern is slightly different.
The tulle bonnet shows some age discoloration to the netting but it is still very fine, no rips or anything. You see the outfit modeled on my 25" S&H Tete Jumeau (not included) and I would say it's about perfect for her. The dress measures flat 11" across the chest, 13 1/2" across the waist uncinched, is about 14 1/2" on the drop waist so there is some room for an expansion underskirt to give it a bit of a puffed out look if desired, and it is about 17 1/2" long. Many copy these dresses today, but this one is ORIGINAL and unlikely I will find another one like it again soon. Please enlarge the photos for details.
