A lovely piece of antique crushed velvet it has a stripped pattern with little flowers design in it. The piece shows that it was an end or beginning of the bolt on either side and it is actually two pieces of velvet sewn together as seen in the photos. It is a golden tan color and the images show what it looks like with and without a flash. Photo #7 shows the back and you can see the images of the flowers show through to the back.
I have hand washed it so it is clean. It measures about 44" x 46 1/2". The last picture shows it across my dining table for example. I bought it as a throw piece and then I was going to make doll clothes from it but never got around to it. It is a heavier fabric and could be used for upholstery as well. I believe it is cotton but I do not know the contents. It is Victorian era so it would be a natural fiber. Maybe silk with cotton? I don't know. It is lovely and well preserved.
