A beautiful and unique centerpiece bowl by Harrach with an applied cobalt blue color on the outside inside around the rim beautifully etched butterflies encrusted with gold and along the rim. It measures approximately 4" high, 10" across 6" deep and 2 3/4" across the foot.
There are no chips or cracks however there is minimal wear to some areas of the glass and the gold on the rim. Also to the foot it shows where it has sat for many years. I have never seen this type of blue on glass before, it's sort of like reverse painted but it isn't really 'paint'; I don't know what it is. There are some small scratches to the glass if examined closely that happened just from age and use. I took all images with flash photography so this is exaggerated as to how the piece views in natural lighting, but please examine the photos for details.
I would say it is a fairly rare piece for them, as I have never seen another one like it but Harrach has made so much art glass, starting from the 1750s and they are still in production today, so it's impossible to say if it's a 'one of'. Not all of their work is signed and I could not find a signature on this piece. Based on my research, the bowl was likely made about or just before the turn of the last century.
