A lovely little enamel floral and fruit arrangement by Jane Hutcheson for Gorham’s Fleurs des Siècles gift line of enameled metal design of strawberries, dipped in real gold, then hand enameled and set with little green glass 'jewels', then encases in a crystal shaped egg set upon a gilded pedestal.
Finding the eggs from Jane in good condition can be a little challenging because there was a defect in the manufacturing of many of these where the crystal was not adhered properly to the base and air got inside and made them cloudy. Thus they stopped production of this design pretty earlier on, even though it was one of the arrangements produced in the later period.
This egg is very clear, as you see, and shows the interior design very well. Something collectors have learned is that if the egg is going to cloud up, it would have already done so, and since this item is about or over 30 years old, it's not going to, and that's what makes finding these unclouded a rarer find. It happens, but many times it does not.
So, that being said, the condition is very good, no chips, cracks, etc. it has only been on display, some slight wear to the metal base from age, the very bottom shows wear to the velour and the original sticker has been taped back on to the bottom (not by me, I bought it this way). Please see photos for approximate measurements.
