This charming English pin tests to sterling silver. It was made by H.W Miller of Birmingham , England. This company started up in 1925 and ceased trading in the 1960’s. It made buttons and badges of all kinds which are now very collectable. I date this piece to circa the 1930’s . As you will see below it is a very patriotic piece for the United Kingdom.
The pin measures ¾” (1.9cms) across and weighs 3.7 grams.
In the centre is a raised shield with the Holy Cross.Around the edge is a folded banner with the four emblems of the United Kingdom . At the top is the English rose , then clockwise the daffodil for Wales, the shamrock for Ireland and finally the thistle for Scotland.( It was only in 1948 that Ireland declared itself to be a republic,)
On the reverse is an old style c clip and the inscription ‘H.W Miller Ltd B'ham 18'
This lovely pin is in fine vintage condition with the natural patina of age. It will arrive in a gift box.
