This magnificent, French silver Saint Esprit pendant is set with pastes The silver is marked with boars head hallmarks in two places.
These signify 800-900 silver quality. It dates to the early nineteenth century. It would originally have been worn attached to a velvet ribbon.
It measures 2 and 11/16” (6.7cms) long by 1 and 3/8” (3.5cms) across the widest part.. It weighs 24.9 grams.
The pendant is in the shape of the dove of the Holy Spirit or Saint Esprit. Paste stones of varying shapes are bezel set in silver with a delicately indented lower edge. Most of the pastes have a clearly identifiable black dot, a characteristic of Georgian pieces. The pastes at the centre are elevated like wings. Each has a drop.
The reverse is finished with smooth silver . There are two boar’s heads at the top and one at the base. There is a loop at the top.
In excellent antique condition this extremely rare piece will arrive in a gift box.
