This delightful French Communion medal us made of 800-900 silver quality with an overlay of 18 carat gold. I am dating it to circa 1900.
The medal measures 1 and 5/16” (3.3cms), including the ring, by 13/16” ( 2.2cms) across. It weighs 3.4 grams.
Within an attractively shaped oval is the golden Communion chalice. On either side are engravings of the grape vines and sheaves of corn, representing the Communion. This is delightfully framed with delicate filigree.
At the top is a ring which bears the boar’s head hallmark for 800-900 silver and a bail for a chain. The back is plain for your own engraving. Clearly it was never presented.
In fine antique condition, this lovely medal will arrive in a gift box.
