This lovely French, silver medal shows Jesus and his Sacred Heart. I am dating it to circa 1910.
It measures 1” (2.5cms) across and weighs 6.4 grams so is quite substantial.
On the front is a magnificently engraved image of Jesus showing his Sacred Heart. The detailing is very fine and must be the work of a great artist. The only clue we have are the initials ‘A S’ on the left.
On the reverse is a branch of olives intertwine with thorns. The sign of Jesus ‘J H S’ is at the top with a tiny cross. There is a blank space for an engraving.
At the top is a ring and a bail. The ring bears the boar’s head hallmark for 800-900 quality silver.
In excellent antique condition with a fine patina of age, this beautiful medal will arrive in a gift box.
