Here is a rare and beautiful, gold filled, medal pendant marked ‘Fix’, a company founded in 1823 with a secret formula for this type of 18 carat thickly gold filled jewellery. It is signed by the celebrated French engraver, Emile Dropsy (1858-1923). I am dating it to circa 1910 .
The raised image is a wonderful image of a young girl with hands clasped in prayer before the Holy Chalice. On the lower right is the signature ‘E Dropsy’.
The ring at the top is marked ‘FIX’. There is a bail for a chain.
On the reverse is a cross and scrolling around the edge with three roses. At the base in French is ‘Souvenir of First Communion’. In the centre is a blank space for an engraving.
This charming medal is in fine antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
