This impressive, French rosary is composed of lemon glass beads, simulating citrines on silver. There is a boar’s head French hallmark for 800-900 silver quality on the top ring of the crucifix. I am dating this rosary to the end of the 19th century.
The rosary measures 28½” (73cms) around and the drop is 6 and 3/4” (17cms). The individual beads are 8mms wide. It weighs 81.2 grams.
The beads, a wonderful shade of lemon yellow, are delicately faceted to catch the light. They are joined by silver links. The pretty centre is a 14mms wide. The pierced marial symbol is surmounted with a cross and embellished with fleur de lis. It is the same on both sides.
The drop finishes with an exquisite crucifix. It is pierced and exquisitely decorated with engraved fleur de lis. The corpus has been separately applied. The reverse is smoothly finished.
This truly beautiful rosary is in fine, antique condition It will arrive in a gift box.
