This charming, Art Nouveau cross pendant is French and hallmarked for 800-900 silver quality.

This unusually shaped cross is the cross of Lorraine, forever associated with the French heroine, Joan of Arc.

It measures 1½” (3.8cms) long, including the ring, by 15/16” (2.4cms) across the widest bar. It weighs 3.9 grams.

The cross has two horizontal bars, the lower one slightly wider. The raised arm ends are outlined in the gothic style and the interior is finely textured. In the centre is a thistle, a popular Art Nouveau motif.

At the top is a ring marked with the French, boar’s head hallmark for 800-900 quality silver. A bail for a chain is attached.

The reverse is plain silver but on the right is a lozenge shaped maker’s mark.

In fine antique condition, this beautiful cross will arrive in a gift box.
