I am selling this pretty 14 carat gold and turquoise pin for a Greek friend. It is probably Italian in origin. He has explained to me that he was given this pin as a baby on the occasion of his baptism. It was pinned to his clothing. So the pin is about 50 years old and has been kept carefully in a drawer until recently .
It measures 1 and 5/16” (3.4cms) long, including the top pin section, and 7/8” (2.3ms) across. It weighs 2.2 grams.
The plain top has a curved and scalloped edge. There is a small ring at the base which holds the drop. The drop has four , fluted daisy shapes each with a turquoise bead at the centre . I think these are glass rather than natural turquoise. In the centre is a holy cross.
The pin closes with an old style c clip. It is marked ‘K 14’ which is indistinct. The back of the drop is neatly finished.
The drop could easily be converted to a pendant if required. This exquisite and very rare piece is in fine vintage condition and will arrive in a gift box.
