This exquisite pin celebrates the French heroine, Joan of Arc. It is made of gold filled metal. I am dating it to circa 1909, the year when Joan was beatified. She was later canonised in 1920.

The pin measures 1 and 1/8” ( (2.8cms) across. It weighs 2.3 grams

In the centre is a roundel with a raised image of Joan of Arc. She is in full armour with her sword. Around the edge is the wording ‘ Bienheureuse Jeanne D’Arc Priez Pour L France – Blessed Joan of Arc pray for France. On either side is the fleur de lis, , emblem of France.

On the back is an old style c clip. The back is blank except for the word ‘Titre ‘ – Title - often found on French gold filled jewellery.

In fine, antique condition this charming and very unusual piece comes to you tissue wrapped in a gift box.
