This exquisite coral and silver rosary is French and suitable for a child. I am dating it to circa 1900 The crucifix and the centre test as silver.
This beautiful rosary measures approximately 14” (35cms) around with a drop of 4 ”(10cms) including the crucifix. It weighs 4.4 grams.
The beads are approximately 3mms wide and are as uniform as hand cut, natural coral beads can be. They are a lovely salmon colour. They are joined by short lengths of chain.
The rosary has pretty. silver central element. It is of Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes who was later canonised in 1933. Her name is inscribed around the edge. On the reverse is the scene at Lourdes when Our Lady appeared to Bernadette.
The rosary is finished with a crucifix , It is 13/16” (2.1cms) long, including the top . It is delicately engraved with a fleur de lis design and the corpus has been separately applied. The back is in scribed as a souvenir of Lourdes.
This lovely devotional piece, in fine condition, is also very unusual. It will arrive in a gift box.
