This pretty, Art Nouveau silver medal is a souvenir of a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Ourceval in the south of France.
It measures 1” (2.5cms) by ¾” (2cms). It weighs 2 grams.
The delicately shaped medal is typical of the period. It has a pierced decoration of a flower and leaves. On the right hand side is an image of the seated Virgin and Child. This echoes the Romanesque image in the church.
The top ring is integrated into the medal’s design. It bears the crab mark for 800-900 silver quality and a maker’s mark. There is a bail attached.
The back is plain apart from the inscription ‘Sir de ND d’ Ourceval’ Souvenir of Our Lady of Ourceval.
In excellent antique condition, this lovely medal will arrive in a gift box.
