This delightful, French Communion medal is hallmarked for 800-900 silver quality. It carries the date 1918.
It measures 1 and 1/8” (3cms), including the ring, by 13/16” (2cms) and weighs 3.9 grams.
The oval in the centre bears a gold communion chalice. Beneath this are the initials ‘AP’ for Adolphe Penin , the noted Lyons engraver. In the background is a raised vine and ears of wheat. The surround is pierced and ornamented with foliage.
On the ring is the French crab mark for 800-900 silver quality. There is a bail for a chain.
The smoothly finished back has a monogram and the date ’23 Juin 1918’.
This beautiful medal is in fine antique condition and will arrive in a gift box.
