This very pretty, French Communion medal is hallmarked for 800-900 silver quality. It carries the date 1912.
It measures 1 and 3/16” (3.1cms) by 13/16” (2cms) and weighs 5.2 grams.
The oval in the centre bears a gold communion chalice. Beneath this are the initials ‘AP’ for Adolphe Penin , the noted Lyons engraver. In the background is a raised vine and ears of wheat. There is a finely beaded surround. The medal is finished with roses and a bow at the top which incorporates the ring.
At the top is the French crab mark for 800-900 silver quality and a maker’s mark. There is a bail for a chain.
The smoothly finished back has a monogram and the date ’26 Mai 1912’.
This beautiful medal is in fine antique condition and will arrive in a gift box.
