This charming, Victorian crucifix bears full English, silver hallmarks for the year 1898.
It is small, measuring 1 and 5/16” (3.6cms), including the ring at the top, by 9/16” (1.6cms). It weighs 2 grams.
The straight sided cross has an exquisite corpus moulded into the background. At the top is engraved ‘INRI’ within a curve. At the top is a ring and a bail.
The reverse has a line outline and bears the hallmarks. These start with ‘WO’ for the maker, William Oliver. There follow the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter ‘y’ for 1898 and finally the anchor for the Birmingham assay office.
In excellent and rare antique condition, it will arrive in a gift box.
