This lovely French, silver pectoral crucifix dates to the late nineteenth century.
It measures 2 and 11/16” (6.9cms), including the top ring, by 1¾” (4.5cms). It weighs 10.3 grams.
The arm ends bear delicately sculpted roses. The background is finely textured with a smaller than usual corpus, slightly worn but nonetheless expressive.
At the top is a ring which carries a rather worn crab mark for 800-900 silver. There is a bail attached for a chain.
The reverse is textured silver with the rose arm ends.
This wonderful and very unusual crucifix is in excellent antique condition with an attractive, fine patina on the silver. It will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
