This charming, English, antique pill box bears full sterling silver hallmarks for the year 1906. It bears the maker’s mark for Adie and Lovekin.
It measures 1¼” (3.3cms) across the base and it is 5/8” (1.5cms) tall. It weighs 11.5 grams.
On the top is a wonderful, repoussé image of a sweet cherub’s head floating in the clouds. The edge is embellished with delicate flowers and foliage, tied with a little bow.
The box opens on its hinge to reveal a gold washed interior. The base bears the hallmarks – ‘A&LLd’ for Adie and Lovekin and then the anchor for the Birmingham assay office , the lion passant for sterling silver and finally the date letter ‘g’ for 1906. There is a further lion and ‘g’ on the edge of the lid.
The slightly curved sides and the base are plain silver.
This delightful box is in excellent antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
