This beautiful late Georgian or early Victorian French cross is hallmarked for 800-900 silver quality and is ornamented with sparkling paste stones. It is accompanied by a silver chain which is probably not original.
The chain is 18” (45cms) long and closes with a ring clasp. It is of very solid construction. Together with the cross it weighs 16 grams.
The cross measures 2” (5.2cms) long, including the top ring, and 1¼” (3.2cms) across.
The cross has an attractive shape. The pastes are graduated down the arms and there is a central floral arrangement. The majority of pastes have the black dots characteristic of Georgian jewellery and some may be old replacements. However they are all in fine condition.
On the top ring is the boar’s head , French hallmark for 800-900 silver quality. There is a bail attached for the chain.
The cross is open backed to maximise the sparkle of the stones.
In excellent antique condition, this wonderful cross pendant is sure to please. It will arrive in a gift box.
