SUCH A TINY SMOOTH LEATHER FACE for so much expression! She has beaded eyes, a pinched leather formed nose and thread lips! Her hair is black embroidery thread pulled over each shoulder. She wears a multi color glass bead thread strung headband and matching necklace. She also wears a very special crystal bead choker. Her native leather dress is unusual, it is styled more like a long coat with edge beading down the front, over the shoulders, around the cuffs and along the bottom. She also has short hand cut fringe around the bottom edge. Her leggings are burgundy cotton held together with beads and sewn to her leather moccasins with another row of beads. Her moccasins have beads around the tops. Her little body is a cotton print fabric and she is all hand sewn with thread.
CONDITION: Great! Light soiling on the arms, probably from being played with. No missing beads, tears, holes, odors or other damage.
SIZE: 5 3/4" Tall by 2 1/2" Wide (Shoulder to Shoulder)
CIRCA: 1930's to 1940's
SPECIAL NOTE: Normally tribal affiliation can be determined by the style and cut of clothing on Native American dolls. I have never seen this type of dress before. However, some of the northern tribes prefer to show a molded nose, so she could be from the Northwestern tribes or even up into Canada. If you recognize her tribe, please let me know. Thanks.
THOUGHTS: Tiny, small or miniature dolls make great gift bag stuffers or are adorable tied on top of gifts. The cutest Native American themed Christmas tree I have seen was decorated with tiny dolls, cradles, moccasins and so on. They also look adorable grouped together!
