Family of Native American dolls made by Rebecca Bluecloud, a member of the upper Sioux Indian Community in Granite Falls, Minnesota. The doll family includes the father, mother and baby in his/her cradle. Rebecca was born in 1883 and passed in 1944, so let's just take a moment and think about everything she and her family had witnessed during this time period. Their traditional way of life was pretty much over, they now needed money to survive. She was smart and saw that the tourists were interested in native dolls. She began a business of making and selling dolls, mainly as family units of 3. I have seen numerous single dolls through the years, so it is rare to still have an original family of 3 together. She used commercial leather and wonderful color coordinated trade beads of all sizes and heritage. She was careful not to offend her culture by making truly traditional native dolls. She instead did an adaptation of native dolls that would be acceptable to the tourists. It took me years to discover the artist after I purchased my first family by Rebecca. There are many articles on her and her family on the internet. If you are interested in the dolls and not able to use the internet, please let me know and I will print out and mail information to you with the purchase of the dolls.

SIZE: Male: Almost 12 1/2" Tall
Female: Almost 12 1/2" Tall
Baby: 4 1/2" Tall plus leather waist ties for mother doll

CONDITION: All 3 of the dolls are in excellent to good condition. Absolutely no odors of any type.
The male doll is missing a feather trailer down his back, not unusual, many don't still have them, feathers get bad and then there is the fear of what type of feathers they are, many are illegal to sale. He is also missing a beaded brow band that would have also had feathers in it. He has a small pin hole at the top of his shirt on the back where he was pinned to a wall. Leather is good, no rips, just a couple of dirty spots on his sleeves. His beads appear to all be intact.
The mother doll is in excellent condition. All beads are present. Her turquoise beads on each of her hair braid have some color flakes missing. She also has a couple of dirty spots on her leather, they match what is on the male. She has a crease in her leather where she has been sitting for most of her life, but leather is strong and good.
Baby is also in excellent condition. Her/his little cradle hood was crushed down at some point in his life. I put just a little piece of black felt in it to raise it up. Ties are good and still strong. All beads are present and appear original.
